This one-of-a-kind Roman Cut Chasuble set is made exclusively for the Gebetsliga by Gammarelli.
Founded in 1798 and known affectionately as “Tailor to the Pope,” Gammarelli has furnished three white cassocks—small, medium, and large—for Papal Conclaves since the late 18th century. They have served as clothier to Popes Pius VI, Pius VII, Leo XII, Pius VIII, Gregory XVI, Pius IX, Leo XIII, Pius X, Benedict XV, Pius XI, Pius XII, John XXIII, Paul VI, John Paul I, John Paul II, Benedict XVI, Francis, and Leo XIV. Gammarelli is celebrated as a paradigm of quality and refinement, synonymous world-over with quality sacred vestments.
Executed in red damask, this chasuble is accented with silver gallons and lined in red moire. The pattern of the fabric features the pinecone. The pinecone is drawn from one of the most ancient symbols of Christian Rome. It recalls the monumental bronze pinecone that stood in the atrium of Old Saint Peter's Basilica, greeting pilgrims as they approached the tomb of the Apostle. In Christian tradition, the pinecone symbolizes eternal life, spiritual renewal, and the promise of resurrection. Its many seeds, hidden within its protective scales, came to represent the mystery of new life emerging from what appears dormant, a fitting image of Christ's victory over death and the hope of everlasting life offered to all who believe.
At the back-bottom of the chasuble is the Gebetsliga Coat of Arms embroidered in white and silver. The five piece set includes: the chasuble, stole, maniple, veil, and burse.
This vestment set honors Blessed Karl’s devotion and commitment to beauty and devotion in the Sacred Liturgy.
Made in Rome, Italy. Damask with Machine Embroidery.
