The Hidden Offering
“What you are going to do, do quickly.” — John 13:27
While the drama of Holy Week unfolds publicly in the Gospel, much of its decisive movement takes place in silence — in the hidden decisions of hearts. Karl’s last years had that same hidden character. Outwardly nothing seemed to happen; inwardly his life was becoming a complete oblation.
Our own most important choices are often invisible to others. In the quiet acceptance of a duty, in the refusal to give in to resentment, in the perseverance of prayer, the course of a life is determined. As the Church enters the stillness before the Triduum, we are invited to allow our own hidden “yes” to God to become complete.
Blessed Karl, make our lives a faithful and hidden offering. Amen.
