Fidelity in the Hour of Betrayal

“One of you will betray me.” — John 13:21

Karl knew the pain of abandonment — allies who withdrew, promises that failed, support that disappeared when it was most needed. Yet he did not allow this to turn into bitterness. His trust remained in God, not in human security. Each of us encounters moments when confidence is shaken and relationships reveal their fragility. In those moments we are brought close to the loneliness of Christ Himself. Karl’s fidelity shows us that love does not depend on being upheld by others. It rests on the decision to remain with God when everything else becomes uncertain.

Blessed Karl, give us steadfast hearts in times of trial. Amen.
