Detachment from Power

“What profit is there to gain the whole world…” — Mark 8:36

Karl refused to hold on to power at the cost of conscience. He chose fidelity over success. We face the same choice in smaller ways whenever truth requires sacrifice. What he surrendered outwardly preserved his soul. The same freedom is given to us when we choose God above all.
