1st Monday of Lent

Charity Toward the Forgotten

“Whatever you did for one of these least brothers of mine…” — Matthew 25:40

Karl did not love the poor from a distance. He visited them, spoke with them, and reordered court life so that their needs would be met. He recognized Christ in the suffering. Our fasting and sacrifices during Lent find their meaning when they open our hearts to others. Love becomes real in concrete acts of mercy.

Blessed Karl, give us a heart for the suffering. Amen.
