A Crown Received as a Cross
“When he was insulted, he returned no insult.” — 1 Peter 2:23
Karl did not seek the throne; it was placed upon him in the shadow of world war and collapse. He accepted it not as an honor but as a duty for the sake of others. In a world that grasps for recognition, he received authority as a form of sacrifice. Our daily responsibilities — in family life, work, and the Church — are the crosses by which we are sanctified.
Blessed Karl, teach us to carry our duties in a spirit of sacrifice. Amen.
