Love for the Church
“You are fellow citizens with the holy ones and members of the household of God.” — Ephesians 2:19
Karl understood his mission as inseparable from the life of the Church. His political responsibility was for him a service offered within the wider body of Christ. Even in exile, when all public role had vanished, his identity as a Catholic remained the center of his life. We can be tempted to see our faith as something private, separate from our daily responsibilities. Yet our true belonging is here — within the communion that unites heaven and earth. Karl’s fidelity reminds us that no change in circumstance can take away our place in that living body.
Blessed Karl, deepen our love for the Church and our unity within her. Amen.
