Humility in Loss

“He humbled himself.” — Philippians 2:8

Karl’s outward dignity disappeared in exile, but his inner nobility became even more radiant. He accepted dependence, poverty, and obscurity without resentment. Loss can strip away illusions and bring us closer to the truth of who we are before God. In Lent we willingly choose small acts of humility so that our hearts may be free. Karl shows us that nothing is lost when it leads us to greater union with Christ.

Blessed Karl, teach us the freedom of humility. Amen.
