1st Saturday of Lent

Faithful in Illness

“I was sick and you visited me.” — Matthew 25:36

Karl’s final illness became a conscious offering for the reconciliation of his peoples. He accepted suffering with serenity, uniting it to the Cross of Christ. Pain can become prayer when it is offered in love. Lent teaches us not to waste our crosses but to transform them into intercession. In weakness, Karl’s kingship reached its fullest expression.

Blessed Karl, help us to unite our sufferings with Christ. Amen.
